Hello!

At the moment my puppy is still with its mother, learning about the world:) Now have more than a week to get everything ready for its arrival. I plan to crate train it and would like to use my adult cat crate if its possible to avoid buying multiple crates. (I will eventually buy xl crate, to fit his adult size, and divide it with separator.)

-Crate is 45cm(22inch) long, 25cm(12inch) wide, 25cm(12inch) height
-Puppy is a 8week old male Rottweiler - Bernese mountain dog mix (Bernweiler)

My question is, will this fit or should I buy a bigger crate?

Buy a bigger crate. They make life stage crates with an extra moveable/removeable panel that can be adjusted as the puppy grows. Ideally, puppies should stay with their dams and littermates until 10 - 12 weeks of age so they learn important behavior skills.
Bernweiler? Was that a deliberate breeding?

Yes it was deliberate and I spent quite some time looking for it. Initially we wanted a Rottweiler. But current climate here s all against 'dangerous breeds' and it could happen if we move that they make me take a exam and expensive classes for it. So we did research and decided we wanted a designer dog. Bernweiler is not on any black list.

Those are truly a gorgeous mix! I'd never heard of it so Google showed me. I am very much in love with that dog. Do you have pictures of your pup yet?

Not jet any pictures. I've seen him when he was 4weeks. Just a small ball of fur with pinky tongue hanging out. haha
We suspect he will have rottweiler body type, with short hair, but with fluffy ears & tail and a few color markings on chest from Bernese Mountain dog.
Bernese have gorgeous color markings and really long hair...that takes a lot of grooming and gets everywhere.

I wouldn't say they take a lot of grooming. Certainly no more than a Golden Retriever or Border Collie. The hair does get EVERYWHERE though. Berner hair has a way of floating through the air instead of falling, so it's always on every possible surface including your food. ;P

Never heard of a Bernweiler, but it sounds nice. I bet the temperament will be lovely. Be sure to send us pics when you get him!

Did your breeder do any health testing? Both breeds are prone to hip & elbow dysplasia, which can cripple a dog early on.
Keeping the puppy intact until it's at least a year old, and controlling its exercise levels until 18 months will help prevent problems.
