Hello, my name is Yvonne from Raleigh, NC.
I purchased a Crassicus sp Veracruz. I am looking for someone owning one to see about any particulars about this species by experience! Have only description from seller! Also any resources on this species? Not too concerned about care, should be simple enough, rather experience with temperament, anything I can do to keep her comfortable! She is very skiddish right now. Did not want any water from Qtip, still sitting on top of wrapping she came in. I will let her be and see what she/he does. Thanks

You should be concerned about care if you're trying to give it water off a q tip, it needs housed property you can't just house it the way you want. Use the search function at the top right and look for you're species and read up. All Tarantulas will drink from a water dish, they will not drown.
Check this out.

I've not kept any species from the Crassicrus genus before, but everything I've read about them indicates that they're generally docile and somewhat skittish. If you provide an enclosure with deep enough substrate for it to dig a burrow in, then it will likely do so and retreat to the burrow when disturbed. Keep like you would most other neotropical terrestrial/fossorial species with slightly damp substrate and a water dish and you should be good to go.

You cannot sex a T from the top down - need to see the underside of it...

I am aware, thank you! Was trying to coax him/her off of the Papertowel, but it’s serving as a comfort place, so I leave it be safe in its enclosure! I am finding that there is not much description on this species evidently, hence my putting it out there! I’ll pull up the link you gave me! Was just wondering about this particular species. I have others, however much smaller, but managing just fine!

Thank you for your response! Waiting for it to attach itself to a panel to see! I thought pedipalps would give it away too but then that’s based on jumping spiders.

Modified pedipalps are only present on mature males, so sex of juvenile specimens is generally indistinguishable based on appearance alone. There are some species that show minor sexual dimorphism prior to maturity, but the only way to get a good idea of sex is to examine the epigastric furrow - the "slit" on the ventral side of the abdomen between the anterior set of book lungs. That method (ventral or epiandrous fusillae sexing) is not 100% accurate and can actually be quite inaccurate at times. The most accurate way to sex a tarantula is to examine the inside of a molted exuvia (shed skin) to see if there are female reproductive organs present.

A little more complicated than it is with some jumpers, but one you know what to look for it's a bit easier.

I'm sorry but this exact statement here worries me, it's not a dog it's not going to follow you if you have treats. To get a spider to move use a brush and gently brush it's back legs to coax it off the paper towel. Or just leaving the paper towel there until it walks off itself. It is not going to follow a q tip with water on it. Trust me if you did that with most species you will end up with a bite. The only time something like this would be recommended is if you're T is dying of dehydration but even then I would drip water directly on the mouth parts not use a q tip.

I don’t have this species. I was curious and searched a bit with my magical tools.

i did not come up with much. It seeks like an overlooked species. Or maybe its because of availability. They seem to find themselves in the middle with brachypelmas and Tlitocatl. I guess take your pick between skittish and hair kicker.

i bet if they were real defensive, we would know about them more.

i saw sp diamondback vercruz, and sp veracruz. We know how sp’s can go. So i don’t know if you have either. Depending on your dealer, you could always know more.

i do wish a member who has had one for a while shows up. But even on the boards i did not get much.

the sp diamondback seemed to have “docile” in their tempermant. Which is always individual specific. But it helps to know.

buying this with the information i found, i would protect myself from UrS, and expect possible defensive behavior. Nothing like the more defensive New Worlds.

this is my logic being put at work.

i know, no more, of this species then you. It is what i gather from what i found.
