My sister sent me these pictures of a spider that she found and then asked me to identify it. I told her that I was horrid at identifying anything and that I would ask all of you. Can someone give any clues as to what this is? Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks a lot!! :D

wolf spider?
I don't think so... I didn't see it myself, but she told me that it had a large web in the high corner of the room, where she watched it catch moths and other spiders. I don't think there are any wolf spiders that spin webs... right?

If it's venemous enough to seriously harm a person would you remove it? And risk injury or leave it?

That long pointed abdomen and pronounced spinnerets make it seem more like a grass spider.
Wolf spiders are more olive-shaped with smaller spinnerets, while hobo spiders may somewhat look similar but are definitely rarely as slender.

Definitely a grass spider. These come in a bunch and they look like slings at a distance. So much so I almost didn't catch my little hmac once, I generally just leave them be, but now I look at them first :lol: . They can climb very well, unlike wolfs, including upside down on the ceiling.

Probably agelenid. Need location to narrow that down.

" Identifying Tegenaria & Eratigena spiders is problematic, and can only reliably be done by an experienced spider specialist and/or by a microscopic inspection of the genitalia."

As others have said, it’s definitely a member of Agelenidae. If you are on the east coast, it’s probably Barronopsis sp. if you are on the west coast, lots of different very similar looking genera it could be.

Woah; thanks for all the responses! I appreciate it!! :D In case this is relevant, I went to see the web; it was high above the ground, in a corner, and flat. I can provide a picture if you guys want one.

The location is north Georgia, USA.

@Isopods others:
It's my sister's spider, so I can't remove it, even if I wanted to. She's been observing it on its web for some time... until it disappeared one day.
TBH, though, if I found an extremely venomous spider in my own house... I think I would just leave it there, lol, especially if it was winter. If I found one in my parents' house, I might actually remove it... 'cause my mom would smush the dear. :'C I don't think I really need to worry about that, though, because there aren't very many dangerous spiders around here.

@HooahArmy:
Ooooh, okay! I didn't know that those were typical grass spider traits. I'm definitely going to keep that in mind, because I often try to find funnel weavers! Thanks a lot!

@jbooth:
LOL. I'm glad you didn't lose your H. mac! Yeah; my sister's spider was near the ceiling. It can definitely climb walls!
