Just got to say, you guys/gals that keep hot snakes got some nerves. LoL!

I went out for a walk, and ended up in front of my sisters house and found a small snake in the road.
It just shed recently. It still has some skin on its tail.

Thing is, I cant tell if its a copperhead, or cottonmouth. Its a gorgeous snake! I just got it in a trash can right now. Figured its best to relocate it from near my sister's property. She has two little kids. So, yeah, it was the best thing.

I will try to snap a few pictures of it. But, they wont be high quality. Im scared poopless of hots. LoL!

*Edit*

After a bit of looking on google, it is a copperhead. Now Ill go snap some pictures...

Here s/he is. I only got a look at it under a street lamp until I got home where I could put a flashlight on it...
All I can say is WOW! This thing is gorgeous! The flash from the camera flushes out the red-ish color it has. Almost makes me want to keep it. But, thats not gonna happen.

Anyways, here are the pictures.

It looks like its in pretty good health. That is just a leaf under its tail.

LoL! If I knew how, I would. But to be honest... I'm not comfortable enough to pack it. Haha.

Simply gorgeous! If I ever decided to keep a venomous species, it would almost certainly be a copperhead! I think they are breathtakingly beautiful.

I couldn't agree more! I would like to keep it. But, I'm not comfortable enough right now. Mostly because of my nieces that run around here.

I know, I know, I could lock the enclosure. But, things happen, and I don't want to risk it.

Hey Tommy, it is indeed a copperhead. Agkistrodon contortrix. I would suggest letting it go in a wooded area as close as possible to where you found it. They do develop territories of sorts, where they know how to find water and shelter. If the area is a neighborhood, then try to take it out somewhere away from people that it will have easy access to water and good shelter.

If you decide to keep it, there are a lot of things to think about and consider. I would be happy to talk to you about it. And there are a lot more hot keepers on here, with more experience than myself who can help you also.

Agkistrodon contortrix

Hey thats defiantly a Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix(southern) Like Sky mentioned. Thanks for the offer on Face book on it but I already have a pair of those and a pair of Agkistrodon contortrix laticinctus (broad banded) the hypo female is possibly gravid.

I would do like Sky mentioned and just relocate it.

Well, the little guy/gal has a new area to roam... I went about 6 or so miles out of town, let it go out by the river.
It's got plenty places to hide, unlimited access to water, & plenty far away from any houses.

Gave me a bit of a scare though. The can fell over while driving there, slowly opened the lid and BAM, it's right there. LoL!
Needless to say the can fell back in the bed of the truck and I let out a very sad, girly scream. After the little critter took off, I laughed at myself. Hehe.

Gorgeous snake dude. It's now on my list of "if I get divorced" animals, along with Latrodectus and Loxosceles. ;P
