cool bug ID

Found this near a river in southern Kansas. Once again, sorry for the pic quality, but this was so different looking that I had to try to get a couple pics

That's a grasshopper. a Pygmy grasshopper of some kind (Tetrigidae?). I see them allot around ponds.

It was starting to get dark and it blended in so well with the rocks. I guess I didnt get such a good look at it.

it appears to be a small spider mite, ive seen them attached to harvestmen before they attach to the joints where the membrane is week and drink the juices, like a Tick for bugs
