LOL! You know, I said the same exact thing. Funny part is that it was also over a cobalt blue. Yeah right; now we are up to 80 something T's (not including centipedes and scorpions).

If anyone does not have room, it is us. You can ask Philth and jcohen9999, as they have seen first hand what little space we have. Those darn pretty colors and those cute little babies, they get you every time. =D

Best of Luck! :)

The answer to your problems: SHELVING UNITS! ;)

Get some pretty silver wire shelving units from costco and
tell her she can have a couple of the shelves for her plants or whatever she wants to put there. :)

im a fan of the "but i need a new T. the roaches are procreating like roaches. this is the only way i can thin out the population" it worked once with my mom.

another is, telling her you can get it at a great discount. i showed my mom a price list that had a B.smithi at $200 and i told her i could get this limited time deal for $75.

if you have empty tanks lying around, tanks you may use for ICUs or transfer/carry along tanks. just put the T in one of those and act like youve always had it. "Oh, this ol' thing?" :} ;P

I have to be honest, I once said the same thing about Cobalts. I told my Boyfriend there was no way in HELL he could ever have one of those "blue demons." I had heard horror stories about how viciouse they were, and vowed if he ever got one, I would pack up the kids (cats) and go.
Problem was, all the stories I had heard were horror stories. I had never heard of how kinda skittish they are and how they are more than happy to be left in their little burrows. I finally realized I was being prejudice to these little beauties because of misconseptions.
I bought a lovely juvenile/sub-adult Lividum two weeks ago and haven't really seen it since. My boyfriend was quite shocked and actually asked me, a few times, "So, you really bought me a Cobalt?!?" (He asks me this after it's in it's new tank living happily on my art desk.
Truth is, Lividum's aren't really aggresive. Defensive, DUH! But not aggressive. It threw an impressive threat posture when we moved it into a new tank, but otherwise it has been happily living in a burrow.
I say if your wife (Girlfriend?) is not too keen on the Cobalt idea, try to dispell the myths for her. If it's a new T in general she's worried about, I say just keep working on her. I once also said we would never own more than 9 T's. Last count we were at 17. :D
Hope this helps!

Eh, I wouldn't make too much out of getting a spider that will spend all of its time underground anyways. Get something else that you will be able to see more often. There are other spdiers that are brightly colored and not nearly as psychotic. Why not get a GBB?

All lies!!!!

I never once actually told him he "Couldn't" have one... Fact is we are three people and two T's living in one tiny room! If he wants one so badly that he has to try and make me out the bad woman then I guess I will just have to sit back and laugh!!! His silly looney lil' plays on me are quite enjoyable and its one of the things I luv most about him... Point is... I have been seeking a shelving unit that will fit in our tiny heaven and until I find such a unit... Your not getting the cobolt blue.... But in the mean time m'luv.... can we get one of those other ones you showed me??? I'm sure we can make room for that one....lol...:D

Space is always a problem.........
but if you have the right type of containers, they do stack up very nice:D

My sons dresser looks like an apartment building for inverts;P

Then there is the plant rack in the kitchen......and the top of the
TV cabinet and, you get the idea:rolleyes:

I'd just buy the thing anyway, you know you want to;P

Say something like:

"Haplopelma Lividums arn't aggressive; merely defensive. As long as you don't feel the need to poke at her, she won't feel the need to poke at you. "

Play with the wording on that and you've a very profound speech that should win her over ;)

If that doesn't work, tell her you can sell the babies for mucho-dollar and watch her eyes light up $_$ :D

i agree... everyone should have one, at least eventually.

yeah, i'm the guy who keeps saying, "so, you really bought me a cobalt?" and, wow, they are really beautiful T's.... They are defensive, but I researched them for a long time before I was surprised with one and expected the behavior (makes it much easier to deal with than a psychotic rosea)

I say, once you get the shelving, research research research if you haven't yet. good luck in the meantime

My husband, bless his big ole heart, bought me one for Christmas. I had no idea they were defensive. I opened the box and put my hand gently in front of it... and it ran straight up to my head in the blink of an eye! I thought it was hilarious... until I found out what it COULD have done!!

Now, she's simply an ornament. Looking at her in the sunlight is enough... I'm not going to ttry holding her again!:D
