Considering another feeder roach

My G. rosea (adult female) doesn't seem to like Dubias, but she will take B. lateralis. I think that's because she had been mostly raised on crickets until I got two roach colonies. They are similar in size and run faster. Dubias tend to freeze upon being touch (by the spidey) and my rosea eventually just loses interest. I even try tong feeding dubias to her but she just won't take them.

I'm considering trying out orange heads or lobster roaches. Which do you guys/girls recommend?

I should also mention I will be going out of town at the end of next week, although I am not in the least afraid my rosie starving. It's been weeks since I last even bothered to offer her anything and she still looks reasonably fat. Plus I understand roses are notorious non-eaters anyway.

Out of those two, I'd say orange heads are easier in general. But they will get bigger than dubias. You would probably have better luck with the lobs but I find them to be annoying (and they climb glass).

What do you mean by "annoying?" I can deal with the climbing, though. I've got Vaseline for that. Also do the orange heads move around more than Dubias? I find that's key with my particular rosea.

They're small and hard to keep track of. I don't keep orange heads but I do have a species in the same genus. They move a lot. But they burrow hardcore and fast.

since orange heads burrow, I just crush their heads before feedingt hem to my ts. I think they are thte fastest breeding live bearers.

I would go with orange heads, their nymphs are the perfect size for slings, just crush their heads before tossing them in.

If you want movers - get the lobsters. They don't stop moving until they are caught. And they breed much faster than orange heads.

Are you feeding a lot of animals? I haven't tried orange heads. I've tried Lobsters, dubias and Hissers. I got rid of the Lobsters, I found them annoying too, I guess that's a good word for it. When I would get it a little too moist, the smell was stronger than if I accidentally got the dubias' container or Hisser cage too moist. That's my fault though. It's been a while but I think I remember some getting past the Vaseline so I used olive oil. They just seemed a little nastier to me. You didn't mention Hissers but the stuff I have seem to go for those more. The nymphs under an inch are pretty soft so they tend to eat most of it, leaving less leftovers.

I bought some orange head nymphs a while back and they had a HORRIBLE smell. I only had them a day and they stank up my apt.
