I've been wanting to breed some preying manti for a while but am wondering if their is a speciesi that would do fine communally. I've heard some species of Asian flower manti might do well but am not sure.

I'd never keep any mantids together unless they were breeding or if I want nymphs to cannibalize

mantids will eat anything they can grab, so i'd prefer keeping them separate...

'Communal' and 'mantis' in the same sentence will create an oxymoron in English and something that will not work out as it did on paper.

I have done that with Chinese mantids BUT I had to feed them constantly and keep them in a large cage, and by constantly I mean by atleast 24 large crickets in the cage at ALL times.

Ghost mantises are also somewhat disinclined to feed on each other (again, if sufficient food is offered). A large enclosure with plenty of flying foods keeps the cannibalism to a minimum. Mantises don't tend to chase each other down unless they are really hungry. Most of the time they are content to wait for prey their prey to come to them and then *AMBUSH*!

Thanks for the feedback, I figure keeping multiple preditory inverts of any any species require constant feeding. I tried it with pink toe tarantulas once, I started with five and ended up with 2 very fat ones.
