I feel like I am turning into a "color freak". I am interested in adding colorful terrestrials to my collection and I wondered if anyone can share their superior knowledge about nicely colored species with me!:D Scientific and common names would be great, pictures and links, EVEN BETTER!=D
Thanks,
Jennifer

I always thought B. klassi were actually really sharp looking - with all those pinkish red ruffles...

I had a B. klassi, the cat knocked it off of the shelf while I was at work (damb cat) and I never replaced it. It was a sling on ly about 1/4 in but it was about a 4 ft. fall. Still pisses me off when I think about it. eventually I will get another klassi. they are so expensive though, just another reason to be pissed at the cat!

L. cristata is THE one that I'm really excited about right now, having just gotten a nice little sling who is eating and molting like there's no tomorrow. GBB is another that is HIGH on my wish list right now as well. I'm also taking a new interest in various Haplopelmas, having just acquired a mature male albiostriatum (spelling?) at a local store for $30. I'm trying like mad to find a mature female to buy so this guy can get busy! :D

OTB’s has quickly become my favorite. Beautiful colors, interesting behavior and they are making to weirdest and coolest burrows. Ferocious eaters as well.

Hey Jennifer. This question to me, relates very closly to the thread about depth/bredth. When I first started collecting, I was hardcore into color too. So at that time I was going for a nice array of brightly colored and affordable spiders. I originally got A. geniculata, L. cristata, C. cyaneopubescens, C. fasciatatum, P. murinus, H. sp. "aureopilosum, A. avicularia, A. versicolor, B. smithi, G. aureostriata -- all for their color.

My advice to you, is to click on the following links and add them to your "favorites" list. Plus check out some of the online sellers on this forum. Go through their for sale lists and then check out what they are selling on the links that I am providing.

Photo Archive - by Rick West

Species and Common Name and Description - by John Hoke

On that site you will also find a very large picture gallery. Just look around.

I also recommend adding Yahoo Toolbar to your webbrowser if possible. On that you can always do a quick image search with either a common name or a scientific name. Or if you don't want to add the toobar, add the following link to your favorites list: Yahoo! Image Search

I love Kelly Swift's website.
He is of course an online dealer. But the way his price lists are, you get a nice sized thumbnail of the tarantula, the most common name, and the scientific name.
