Found a species that I can finally have in Florida so I'm planning on starting a colony. I'm allergic to roaches, but I'm so tired of superworms and crickets that I'll just keep them in the garage. The parents aren't too hot on the idea becuase they're afraid of them infesting the house. I heard dubias don't colonize when they escape, but what about Discoids?

They will perish quickly if they escape into your home, no need to worry about them infesting your home.

Define "quickly". I have seen individuals who escaped my monitors' enclosure weeks later.
Dang, weeks later? Well, you guys ARE in Fla, though. Humidity in your home HAS to be high to allow those to survive that long.

Every discoid that escapes me always ends up dead and desiccated the next day, or even merely hours later behind my desk.

I cannot see them establishing and forming an aberrant colony in one's home unless the floor is covered in garbage and saturated with water.

Nope no garbage or standing water - just high humidity and an outside environment where discoids are already established. My comment was more to note that, here in Florida, an escapee can easily survive. Normal room conditions may be too cool for reproduction or egg laying, but a trip outside remedies that.
