These are me and my friends snakes(hey Jordan, you should know what friend), we went 50/50 on the pair.(the male is mine)

Here is the male,5 1/2 feet. A lot better coloured then the female, but also a lot more snappy. So I'm trying to tame him down.

here is the female,7 1/2 feet and friendly

The first snake is definitely NOT a Colombian. Its a dead-ringer for one of the BCC, probably Guyanan or Surinam. The second snake is undoubtedly a Colombian though.

I'm not sure, but I'll try to find out. David, thanks for the info, but do the ones from Guyana and Surinam have the red tails?

While it's not impossible for a Colombian to be super-clean, I'm with David on that one. The first looks to be a BCC, and the 2nd is definitely a Colombian BCI.

Fred, yes, Surinams and Guyanans as well as the other BCC locales are known as the "true red-tails". The tails are much more vivid than that of Colombian BCIs. BCCs also tend to be more snappy than BCIs.

Yeah, there are quite a few people who cross-breed BCC and BCI, and not by accident either. They are very easy to tell apart. Cross-breeding is pretty much looked down upon by the herp community, but that doesn't stop some people.

BCI x BCC crosses are still capable of breeding, since these two species are so closely related. So close, that they are in fact, the same species, but different subspecies. Fred's snakes may not be breeding because they may be medically frigid or just generally incompatible. It happens.
