There I said it. I have several diffrent T's and some other insects. Had reptiles, just about everythind under the sun. I just can't like a cockroach. Fact is the give me the HEEBIES. I can only scoop them up with a cup to feed the T's. There. I feel better.
How can that be, like the only thing that bothers me?
Heck, I use to thumb through my dermestid beetles colony. And that is nasty.
Anybody else with the HEEEBIE JEEEBIES?

Same here, but I also hate crickets. They remind me of roaches for some reason. I guess I probably associate them all with being dirty even though I know that isn't the case. In the end I deal with it though because my animals gotta eat and it's always great seeing one of my scorps taking one out.{D

To me the crickets aren't so bad. Except for cave crix. We have a ton of them that live under the house. They are huge and deserve to only live UNDER the house.

Simular.
ceuthophilus maculatus-spotted camel cricket or cave cricket.
ceuthophilus secretus-secret cave cricket.
I was talking about the first, but both are equally creepy.

YOu say potato I say tomato

The common name of camel cricket and cave cricket are synonymous. They get the name camel cricket because of the hump back. They get the name cave cricket because they live in caves and other damp fairly cool dark places. Think about the absurdity of fearing roaches yet fanged things with 8 legs dont freak you. Now as I saw someone post here with the tag line I forget who says...put on your big girl panties and deal with it;P Also its not the roaches you fear its the name. If you called them beetles you would be fine!

If you send someone more than one PM they will end up with PMS

Old hag said it. That was my point to start that I own other inverts yet cockroahes freak me out. Hell call 'em a Zebra for all I care. I saw one the other day that looked like he should have been smoking and picking up bets on the corner. Just plain nasty looking. That and they look at me while I'm putting on my big girl panties.

I remember reading someone's post a while back about being a complete arachnophobe when it comes to the small outdoor and housespiders, yet this person has a decent-sized T collection. The big hairy ones just fell into an entirely different category in her brain... go figure.

I love my Ts, and I'll catch any bug I find and transport it back outside unharmed, but silverfish absolutely make my skin crawl! (They're the slithering little beasts that turn-up in old cardboard boxes, etc.

Tropical Cockroaches are so much more better then crickets. I used to not be scared of cricks until I saw their cannabalism in full effect, ugh gross.

Of course its because they become dehydrated, they literally go nuts and start eating anything to get hydrated. Well in one of my cages long ago I saw cricket molting, as soon as he was done another cricket comes up and snatches him and started to consume.

So do you not like snakes and other reptiles? Just wondering, the "slithering" comment made me think you wouldn't be too thrilled about snakes. :)

I actually don't mind them at all. I screamed at the first snake I ever saw. I was maybe 4 years old and it was in my backyard close to the edge of the house. My dad came running, of course, and then explained to me that it was only a garter snake, that they aren't poisonous, and that this particular snake had lived under the foundation of that corner of the house for years. That was the last time I was ever afraid of any snake.

I never pass up an opportunity to hold one. My boyfriend used to keep eastern diamondbacks and promises to have a snake collection to rival my Ts after we're married. {D Right now he has a 200gal saltwater aquarium to house his moray eels.

Snakes are cool. Silverfish are just the creepiest things ever. :D

I just got rid of all my roaches. I used to have hissers which were ok but then I got some lobsters for my Ts. They were way to climby and speedy so I tried dubias which were ok and kinda neat looking but I still didn't like em. And I couldn't bring myself to feed hissers to the Ts and i kind of became fond of them. So back to crix I guess. Do you think an L. Parahybana would eat meal worms? I've had my big girl for about 4 months and I have never seen her eat. She's quite plump so she might just be sneeky about it. But it seems like all the roaches I put in there would just hang out and not get eaten.

I cant stand crickets, it makes me gag to touch them. But I LOVE roaches. I have about 18 species right now. I have no problem touching them or cleaning their cages. Just dont let a cricket near me. {D
