Cobweb weaver

Okay I'm usually pretty good about IDs but this one has me a bit stumped. I wrote cobweb weaver for the title but upon closer inspection it appears to be more of an orb weaver. Location northeast US.
Looks and acts similar to Latrodectus spp. But I think that's just a coincidence.
