Here's my guess

My first guess would be that she's producing an egg sac. For this to be possible, she would need to be a fresh wild caught or even bred by yourself. My second guess would be that it's sheding. The reason that sheding is my second guess is because when they shed, they usually only cover the entrances with web. I've had 2 people that I know well get eggsacs out of these and both of them had their tunnels completely covered with dirt.
Hope this helps,

if it just did that, and doesn't normally, it could be molting time.
OTOH, my C crayshawi leaves her burrowed covered up 24/7, so I can only assume that she comes out when I'm fast asleep!

i doubt shes producing an egg sack because she is not wild caught and not full grown. my guess is that it is shedding time. also if she molts, will she puch her shell out and reopen the burrow? thanks for the help all

shed skin

It's hard to tell as some species will trow their skins out of their home and others will push it as far down the tunnel as possible.

I have had complete molts disappear before and sometimes there would be a leg or two left...

Some just move it aside or dont move it at all...

I'm unsure whether this depends on species, although I doubt it. I believe it varies from tarantula to tarantula...each and everyone of them has its own personality...
