I was at a local pet store and they had 2 H. lividum's and I was looking at them and I noticed that one was very purple, and the other was the standerd cobalt blue. I was wondering are their different color phases. I know they are both H.lividums and they were the same size. and I went back a few weeks later and it was still their and still purple.

I've never heard of H. lividums having different color phases, but who knows for sure? Is there perhaps a different type of lighting used between the two containers? If there's a stark difference in color, I'd lean toward a different species, perhaps.

Sneak in there with a digital camera and snatch us a peek. ;)

$29.99 or $39.99 I am not sure.
Also the T's are all out in the open so you can look at them in their own small containers. i picked them up both and looked at them next to each other in the same light and type of container, and one was Cobalt Blue and the other was Obviously more purple. Like someone who had never seen a T would look at it and say hey that one is more purple. it is not like night and day but it was obviously more purple then normal.
I dont have a digi cam either

For that price, your getting a good deal IMO. I'd get it. :D

Well, I do know that there are some coloration differences in H. lividums. I have an unsexed one right now (in premolt so we'll find out what sex it is shortly) that is the 'standard' blue-legged color with a grey body. Then I have a mature female that is completely black. Same species, but there you have it. I would love to see a picture of this purple H. lividum if that is possible at all.

50$ are you serious, For $50 I could get a fat healthy 2.5"-3" T.blondi.

I was their today and the lividums were both gone. but I will keep looking they use the same distributer so their may be another one.
