I just bought a cobalt blue spiderling 2 days ago. She has barely moved from her position, and not intrested at all in a small cricket cut in half i offered her. Should i be worried?
Thank you for any feedback.

I had a red knee and curly hair years ago, but recently got back into the hobby a few months ago, i have a pink toe juvenile, gbb sling, cobalt blue sling, and starburst baboon.

Good luck w/those last 2. you literally picked 2 of the worst OWs to start your OW experience.

Well, my 1st (maybe 2nd) old world was an H. mac, so its doable. Not the best unless you like looking at a container with a webbed hole in it.

I'm not sure I know what a cobalt blue is.... i dont learn common names. If its not eating, its probably not hungry. Post some pics maybe we can see whats going on.

I've personally kept almost every sp of Poecilotheria and S calciatum and the H mac are the 2 that still makes me nervous enough to not bother with them, and my C lividus female was by far the meanest T I've ever had or seen for that matter so honestly always be as prepaired as possible.

Just out of curiosity, have you given the sling enough substrate to dig? Ideally a bit of a starter burrow? The fact that you know she has barely moved is making me think it's tucked in a corner on the surface.

These guys are obligate burrowers and NEED a good amount of substrate to feel secure in my experience.

It's a pet hole, once it goes in i highly doubt you'll be seeing it often if at all.

If the enclosure is set up properly just leave it alone like viper said.

So, you're in a bit of a trial by fire situation with those guys, friend. And since your posts come off as a bit "green," you're going to catch a bit of flack for it, especially from the dinosaurs...but they'll also give you the best advice available anywhere in the long run, so don't feel too bad about it. You're definitely not the first, nor will you be the last to jump first in the deep end.
if I may make two suggestions:
- learn to use the site search here, because you'll be able to find the answer to the majority of your questions. If you DO need to make a thread, please include as many pictures & as much information as possible, to get the best results back.
- disregard as sources of information wherever you did your research, as if you still felt inclined to get them afterwards with where you seem to be in the hobby, then they're leaving critical information out to say the LEAST.
best of luck, friend. It's definitely possible to keep them successfully, but you don't have much of a learning curve.

Another thing to remember is that each tarantula can have its own personality no matter what you read their personality should be so be prepared to possibly expect the unexpected with the last two on your list.

More than likely still settling in, some will eat/burrow straight away, some will take days/weeks.

Pics of the T and full set up would be helpful for someone with the right experience to made suggestions.

Worrying about behavior or eating 2 after housing it after purchase is quite unfruitful, it hasn’t settled in yet! wait a month after rehousing before worrying about its behavior. It’s not going to starve, let it settle in and trying feeding again in 2 weeks.
