i expect it is possible

we humans can do almost anything if we put our minds to it

BUT you're going to have to do a heck of a lot of reseach, you will probably kill off your first 10-100 attempts, and you might end up getting a biology degree before you are done.

to have that complex of a system you would need to ensure you have numerous different micro-organisms and also make sure you DON't have something like mold spores, unless you include a mold cycle with the appropriate animals (or whatever) to eat it to keep it in check.

i suspect if you tried to do it with a larger container 200L+ it would be more stable and not get killed off or disrupted by a 3*C temperature shift

honestly though, the best you could reasonably hope for is a month or two at most and then some crazy species of plant, fungus, mold or other non-animal will get out of tune, take over, and debalance the system and kill it off.

i really do hope you make it work though, that would be amazing!

After this has been accomplished on a small scale the next thing would be to design a locking ecosystem that could sustain children and market it to working parents looking to save money on costly childcare and nanny cams while confident that their child is securely contained, resistant to modern urban and environmental hazards such as pedophiles, ozone depletion and hip hop music.
