Kind of a bad quality video, but you can see them all over the place. They fall over a few times and at the end she tires to murder him and then tries to murder the paintbrush! I had to throw her off him to save him. (he is ok, pooped himself but he is just fine{D )

Good job with the fast reaction time there. Did he manage to get any inserts before she tried to make a meal of him?

She definitely wanted to do that paintbrush in! {D

Edit: LOL, I'm too slow, you already answered my question. :D

that's an amazing video. For "fun". And definitly to beginners learn smthin with it. U had an amazing timing. When ur mating ur Ts are u always expecting that? Painbrush in hand, seen whats happening and beeing ready to react almost so fast as an instinct?
Amazing.

Yeah--is it "paintbrush in one hand, camera in the other?" I'm impressed. Right about then I'd need at least 4 hands...

Not all matings go like this. Most of the time the male has no trouble getting away from the female, but this time she really wanted to make him a snack. I can save the male most of the time just by being ready for a strike like that. Sometimes I use a plastic ruler to divide them but this time a paint brush was handy. But the signs that it is going to happen are easy to spot. Most of the time the female will try to retract her fangs and starts to wiggle her front 4 legs a lot to get free of the male but slowly so he does not think anything of it. And the second she is free the chase is on! Then there is the second method the females kill that is harder to defend against and that is when the male is under her reaching for inserts she will just plop down on him fangs through the carapace. Those are harder to stop. :(

I have bred this species before and introduced the male several times. Each time the female tried to eat him after the mating, very vicious attacks. After multiple matings I decided not to interfere and let the female do her thing and get her "male nutrition"

Be prepared for a LOT of babies if successful!

Good Luck!!

Yep she has already given me babies two times before this and both sacs were near 900. :)
She took the last molt off and now I am pretty much positive she will be giving me another sac from this breeding.
