8 out of 17 patients were bitten on their feet. Kinda suggests the tarantula was on the ground. I guess they're not always arboreal.

My first thought is that the people bitten on the feet were from male tarantulas on the ground finding trees to explore for females during the mating season. Or maybe someone was climbing a tree. However, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the tarantulas adapted to life on or near the ground in areas of deforestation.

The people bitten on the feet could of been climbing trees.
The article lists what they were doing at the time of the bite. None were climbing trees and most were adults. The majority were doing manual labor at ground level or gardening. Two were bitten in their kitchen 😬

So then, maybe male pokies out pimpin. You can't just limit yourself to one tree.

That's what I'm thinking. They were mostly daytime bites. Although it describes a 2 year old getting bit on his dong by a subfusca and I wanted to puke in sympathy. I cannot imagine that. A 1 year old was bitten on the hand in a kitchen but no further details were provided

Nothing in there stated they were gardening or specific instances of what these people were doing other than listing where they were as jungle was only listed.

Maybe I missed it I looked via the links within the article.
