I know that what goes into the cricket's system will eventually go into the T's system, but is there any soap or cleaning solutions I should avoid using when I clean out the cricket keeper? The last time I just ran scalding hot water inside it (obviously after I removed everythign else), let it dry, and put the new crickets in....But I realized that it still stunk. I was going to use Dawn dish soap next time, but I wasn't sure if the lingering smell or anything would indirectly affect my T if the crickets were exposed to it. Or maybe I'm just worrying way too much about nothing? (If there was already a thread about this, I'm sorry, but I did not find one in the search I ran)

You know what.......I was told from the breeder i get my crickets from that if you want them to live a max life and keep the cage clean at all times...... you should only use a small amount of bleech with a water mix to clean them out. After the scrub down of the water and bleech mix.....you should make sure to rinse completely, dry.......and then rehome the crickets!

I have been doing this for years now......and it works. smell be gone! The stink bad too if you don't clean!

I have to keep hundreds at a time so......it gets bad!

soap residue causes them to get sick and as you said will not clean and sanitize as well!

good luck!

Soap works fine

Dawn dish soap works great. Just remember you don't have to use that much. Let it soak for a bit, Rinse well, repeat after every housing.

There's always lemon juice or a splash of white vinegar in some water. But bleach would be fine if you were sure to rinse it all out.

I recommend using a mild bleach solution because it is a very effective sterilizer but, when rinsed and dried, leaves no residue.
