True- I always fish out the males first to keep the crix crew quietonly males chirp...perhaps he got lucky and only got females.
banded crickets chirp, its just a more subdued, less annoying chirp....but to say they dont chirp is just not true. Ive been feeding banded crickets for many years. They might have also gotten some banded ones in, my local Petco got a batch of those in a few months ago. Banded crickets don't have wings, so no chirping. I'm pretty sure Petco gets crickets from all over the place, not just one distributer. I've seen all kinds of funky ones coming from there.....
Silent brown crickets have been available in the UK and possibly Europe for the last 8/10 years.banded crickets chirp, its just a more subdued, less annoying chirp....but to say they dont chirp is just not true. Ive been feeding banded crickets for many years.
Not a thing here in the U.S. They're considered invasive.Perhaps they sold you grasshoppers
So have I, I actually breed them at home. They need to be full grown for the chirping, but they rarely get to that level as they are fed off long before then. The chirping is almost inaudible, especially in a container. I was simply stating that he might have gotten them in and heard nothing, didn't mean to imply they don't make any noise at all, all crickets do that I've seen over the years. The banded's are the least annoying, that's why I breed them. Obviously I worded it wrong, my bad.banded crickets chirp, its just a more subdued, less annoying chirp....but to say they dont chirp is just not true. Omg yes thank you, they are all on the smaller side. I do think this is the reason. Are they juveniles maybe? Mine don't start chirping till they get to a certain age.
I'm skeptical. Most likely they're just banded crickets.Who knew there were silent crickets I had no clue ..
