Colorado shovel-nosed snake

When asked if he was orange with black stripes, or black with orange stripes, he formed a question mark and pooped on my hand.

These are small snakes, around 12 inches, it's an adult. They're sand-swimmers and spend 99 percent of their time under the surface, breaching to surprise prey on the surface.

Do you have to feed them solely on lizards or do they take mice?

they're small snakes, the largest they can grow is around 17-19 inches long. They eat insects and other small arthropods. Arenivaga, spiders, scorplings, and baby centipedes seem to be their preferred prey items. they seem to only want tiny prey.
