Hello,

I'm mostly into African spiders, but quite recently I purchased some Chilobrachys spp. and now I'm quite getting into them as well, as this is very interesting genus. I have two juveniles bought as Chilobrachys sp. Namtok Phlio, Thailand. The problem is, that in my country I have also seen offers with Phlogiellus sp. Namtok Phlio. I think that my specimens belong to the genus Chilobrachys, but I want to be 100% sure that there wasn't any mistake.
Do anyone know any taxonomical paper with something like key to identify those two genera? I can't find one myself.
The other issue is, do anyone know any attempt (officially published, or not yet) to classify (or identify) any of these Chilobrachys spp. present in the hobby, but unidentified or not classified yet? I mean for example Ch. sp. Keang Krachan, "Dry region" and a lot of others.
I would be grateful for any help.

All the best!

For a key to the species of Phlogiellus, see...

Nunn, S. C., West, R. C. & Wirth, V. von (2016). A revision of the selenocosmiine tarantula genus Phlogiellus Pocock 1897 (Araneae: Theraphosidae), with description of 4 new species. International Journal of Zoology2016(9895234): 1-54.

I'm not aware of a key to the species of Chilobrachys, but you will find the paper above helpful as well as the one below to diagnosis the genus.

West, R. C., Nunn, S. C. & Hogg, S. (2012). A new tarantula genus, Psednocnemis, from west Malaysia (Araneae: Theraphosidae), with cladistic analysis and biogeography of Selenocosmiinae Simon 1889. Zootaxa3299: 1-43

I would recommend going through all of the papers available from the World Spider Catalog's page on Chilobrachys to check if any of them match what you have.

The papers in @AphonopelmaTX 's post cover most of the known and described species of Plogiellus and the only thing "new" i know of now is that Chilobrachys sp. Black satan is the same as Chilobrachys fumosus.
