Your Avic was probably molting in the water bowl because the humidity in the enclosure wasn't adequate. You won't have that problem with G. rosea (Chilean Rose) because their home range is very dry. They don't need the humidity that Avicularia do.

80% Rh should be plenty for an Avic. Who knows what killed it? We could try to sort it out with pics and stuff but... maybe that would be a waste of time. You should have a good experience w/ the rosie. They are pretty much bullet-proof.

If you're getting a sling you won't need a water bowl until its around 2". Just be careful! A weekly misting should suffice!

Post pics if you can when you get one. There's a sticky about the care of G. Rosea's. Use it. I love rosies. Good luck.

jayjay, your T did not die because it was in the water dish. It most likely just died mid molt, but your moving it did not help the situation.

There isn't much you can do to 'help' a T molt, besides wait and up the humidity.:)

Molting in a water bowl won't kill a T in most cases, because their book lungs would be facing up... therefor, they wouldn't drown.

But, like others said... G. rosea like it REALLY dry, so you won't have that same problem.
