This picture has already been "de-bunked", sort of, on Snopes.com. It was NOT taken in Australia, and the snake in question had NOT been eating sheep! It was taken in a wildlife park in South Africa; the snake is an African Rock Python, which is, of course, native to South Africa. She had eaten an antelope, not a sheep. Interesting how pure "junk knowledge" can get spread all over the internet, isn't it?

Yeah, its amazing how many "lives" these pictures have had. Over the last couple years I've seen this python as having been found in Arizona, Australia, Iraq, etc. Though the story may be different, the picture is always the same. Its kinda like the 81 year old nile croc that was supposedly found in New Orleans. The pictures for that were obviosly not in New Orleans, and the captions were totally fake, too. It said something about how it was too old to hunt, so it resorted to eating the victims of Katrina. What a bunch of crap! How did it eat before before the hurricane? I'll have to dig into my "bunk" pictures folder and see if there's anything else worth rementioning.

So I guess the snake was dead? Or was it still trying to eat the fence?

Nice teeth btw.... don't wanna cuddle with those!

Yes, the snake was dead, killed by the electric fence. I've found countless Ratnsnakes and Canebrake rattlers on our property, which had an electric fence, that died in that same awful manner. Some of those were really huge specimens, too. The worst find was a six-foot Northern Pine that my grandfather discovered dead on the fence about seven years ago, only the second Pituophis found on that property.

Saw this months ago. Africa. For me the stories aren't that amazing that have been associated with these pictures. The pictures are what I want to look at. Hurts to see an animal like that die like it did. Interesting though. Never have seen python teeth in detail like that. I've been bitten. Didn't hurt but it sure did bleed allot.

Just a thought, but that looks nothing like an African rock python. Looks a bit more like an indian.

That is most definately an AfRock-I've had a couple of these myself. The Indian Python is very similar in appearance to its more well-known subspecies, the Burmese Python, except that the "arrowhead" on top of the head fades out as it progresses towards the snout, and there is often a pinkish tinge to the face, that is even more pronounced in the Sri Lankan subspecies. Here's a link to a pic of an Indian Python for comparison: http://www.iucn.org/places/srilanka/images/Indian Python.jpg
