Well it seemed time for a fresh thread and I have a question. I am interested in purchasing a pair of chameleons. I have tried doing some research but I easily get off track. I like the veiled chameleons but want to know if any of you have different ones and what you think about their care, breeding potential, and what setups you use.:? I am not afraid to spend a little extra to get something unique. I have read about Nosy Be Blue Panthers, Jacksons, and Quads. I really like the coloration of the males:cool: and I know I am not wanting any morphs.:embarrassed:

Well, so how about it guys and gals:confused:

My aunt and mom both have Panthers, they are so cool. They do need high humidity/good ventilation but I suppose you already know that. ESU make a good chameleon cage, its called fresh air habitat. Add a potted ficus plant. some vines, a water dripper and your good to go.

Most of the different types of Panthers aren't actually *morphs* but a naturally accuring color variety based on where there are from in the wild.
There are some man made ones, like the picasso.

This is Bow, he is a Blue Bar Amblobie Panther (sp?) from screameleons.

and this is star, a Sunburst veiled.

I'm not sure about breeding but I do know their eggs take 6-7 months to hatch. Most chameleon have a short life span too, 2-5 years.

Waldo,

I know someone that has a veiled chameleon like the last one pictured. They are really cool. I am especially fond of the blue bar ambilobe:worship: That is one nice looking lizard. Hoping to get one soon. I just need to decide:confused:

I knew the color morphs were man made. I simply made the statement because just like tarantula keepers/breeders not many people are interested in unpure species. It might look cool and unique but who cares when no one else has one because it's a freak.

Do you use fresh air screen cages or glass aquaria?

they only live 2-5 years? How long does it take them to get as big as in the pic where you are holding it?

frash air screen cages are the only way to go, chams are sensitive to stagnate air.

With proper care they can reach adult size in one year. I'm not sure how old the ones pictures are.
