Chaerilus variegatus fresh moult

This C.variegatus just went from "are you sure there's a scorpion there" to "Oh yeah, i can see it".
However it's only really while studying macro pictures that you can really appreciate how fine they are.

Well i'm assuming it's now on it's fourth instar as i was told they were L3 when i received them. Do you know at what instar they are adult.?

And great, i had L3-L4 kicking around in my head but L5 sounds a lot better ;)
BTW George, at what instar are these adult, do you know.?

Yes they are.

How big it is...well they do like to keep themselves pretty compact as you can see in the picture which incidently was taken of a variegatus that measured approx 6 or 7 mm bodysize

Hey

they are big for chaerilus species i think, getting to 4-5 cm or so (Alex??)
ive got one from Alex' first brood which will moult to adulthood soon (I7?)
its around 3cm now.. so hopefully it grows alot!


this is one of my favourite species!
where else can you find a grey scorpion!??! :D

Hi,

yes, the adults are reaching 4 - 5 cm. I have no idea in which instar they are maturing though, the biggest ones I kept from the first brood are just instar 4. They are growing really slowly, at least my juveniles.

It´s one of my most favourite spp, too. The adults are coloured something like greyish-blue.

Collection data is Borneo, I have yet to ask the collector for a more precise data.
