Okay, so I've had an adult for maybe about two years now, never molted under my care. Months into getting her I woke up to find 50+ babies on her back. I thought Fair enough, she was wild caught.

It's been about a year since, maybe a little over.

And woke up to find just under two dozen babies once again? (FYI she lives alone)

What are the likely explanations here? She held sperm for close to two years? Reproduced asexually?

Tarantulas can not reproduce asexually. But other arachnids have been known too. Maybe some genetic mutation? Or just a delayed sac production.

As far as I'm aware, no Chaerilus species are known to be parthenogenetic.
I think stored sperm is the most likely explanation for now, but in that case I would expect this to be the last time.
