Hi,

this is no "crab" spider, but an Araneus sp., called trivially as "orb weaver"

Awesome, they make great webs huh? I don't have a nice enough cage for it. I think I am going to have to take it back out there.... Thanks for your reply!
This things webbing was about as strong as a climbing rope! O.K., that's a bit of an overstatement, but it was as strong as some hemp twine I've made necklaces out of!

I think it's Araneus bicentenarius, they can get pretty big, that looks like a small one. If your gf wasn't there, you could put it in a corner of the house or a window, it should make a web there, throw it a cricket now and then. I know ...NO WAY, esp. with the gf.

Lol, you don't know my girlfriend. Tell me about them. Any worries for us? Bites unlikely? If it happens, no medical sig? I am pretty sure I can let it out and she won't mind. We already have at least one Diplocentrus lindo running around here somewhere. :) I have 3 rooms it can go in. Invert room staying around 70-85 night/day. I have living room thats stays about 70* all the time. And a kitchen that goes 70-80 Day night. Oh, and it's windy in the living room. A/c blower has a kick to it. (wall unit) Stays pretty dry in here too. Should I try and leave some wet peat close to it? I could put it in a jug and cover it with screen or just leave an open "cage" with some in it.... That would be nice. It seems like it has to be on a web or it's helpless though. hmmnmm
