i usually have alot of house centipedes (look 'em up if you're unsure what i mean) running around my house giving mild to severe heart attacks and knee-seizures. my q to you (hey that rhymes) is is it okay to feed these bums to a tarantula? it would be really cool since i could use my t as a pest control agent (maybe i should give her an application to orkin or something).

:D

Im sorry
But I can think of three reasons why NOT to feed them to your T
1) Most species of centipede are a natural spider predator [it may attack your T]
2]The venom of the centipede may result in a dead spider even if it killed the pede it may have been bit itself.
3] Pesticides. If hte pede has had a dose of pesticide and it goes near your T it will result in a long and painful death of your t

I wouldn't do it. Malhavoc already described why.

Even if they aren't too big, I'd be too worried about pesticides.

I'll give you a better reason, Scutigera sp. feed on small insects and other arthropods, mainly things like cockroaches and silverfish. If you've got a healthy population of them, you've got a healthy population of bugs that I can guarantee are definitely worse to have in your home than some harmless centipedes.

People should encourage top-level arthropod predators, not try to kill them (or use them for free T-food ;)).

i do have a shed outside that needs some serious remodeling (only contains a bunch of old shelves and the like), and it has tons of silver fish and spiders and other freaks ('cept for the spiders of course:D ), but the problem with the pedes is that they have too much legs!!!

in my home country, there are alot of pedes that have some remarkable hues, but if one were to run in my general direction, i would freak out and get mommy to get rid of it for me (imagine that; i still ask her to get rid of them for me like if i'm a big <feline> or something). and living up here is no difference. but i'll take your advice and not use them as food! :D

here's one of the american bums:eek::eek::eek:
