Centipedes in acrylic enclosure

My sp white legs has arrived, I put I'm in a tarantula cribs medium slider, just as a precaution I taped it shut because there's no lock. I've heard mixed reviews on acrylic for pedes, has anyone else used this style of cage? Kind of nervous. Also I'm using some biodude terra sahara anyone use this brand before? Thanks!

I'll try and take photos tonight, but I've only got 2 more maybe 3 giants left. A. Coronatus and A. Gigas and maybe Galeodes Arabs. Got my new shelf into so I need to start organizing everything hopefully this weekend.

I don't keep centipedes or know anything about them really, is the concern they'd push it open or is it that they'd chew out of it lol?

It’s not a slider, but I’ve got my S. dehaani “Thai Flame” in a 12” Tarantula Cube and I love it. I gave it about 4” of substrate to burrow and the enclosure has enough height to where it has a hard time reaching the top. And the magnetic lid is VERY secure, so even when it reaches the top, I doubt it’d be able to push the lid off. I’m going to get another once my sp. “Mint Legs” outgrows its current enclosure, and I’ll be picking up 2 Terrestrial XLs once my galapagoensis and sp. “White Legs” get large enough.

So supposedly they are like cats in the sense that if the head can fit so will the rest of the body, with the slider style you have to slide it in between the brackets and the magnets are on the back, you can push up on the front and lift it maybe a 1/4 inch.

But even in your cage it looks like it could reach the top if it can get to the airholes they'll climb it, mine was doing it last night. Also can I ask what substrate your using? It seems like mine has some coconut coir in it, I've been hearing rumors it can kill the pede from impaction. I feel like the coconut coir is kind of overplayed but as much as these pedes run it's better to be safe than sorry.

I’ve witnessed it using the ventilation holes to climb a few times, so you’re correct, but like I said, the magnetic lid is very secure and he/she can’t push it open. As for substrate, I use Bio Dude Terra Aranea for everything that I keep now. It holds moisture quite well, and I haven’t had any issues with mold growth thus far. I’m keeping my sp. “White Legs” on the dry side with a water dish tho. They’re stupidly prone to mycosis if kept too moist.

Excellent, Mines also bare bones dry. I just fear that pedes are stronger than they appear

I don’t think it can escape that seems taller than it can climb. But extra protection or tape never hurts if you need too. I don’t know enough about Pedes to get one and my mom would freak out if she saw one.

They are definitely something different, so far it's already ate a dubia. No moisture really at all completely dry with ventilation. Small water dish that you overflow a little is all you need. Being from high altitudes they need to be kept cooler 70-75°. I'm really confident in it so far! I'm way more stressed out about my G. Swammerdami molting lol
