i just use 100% peat or the coconut husk the only problem with using 100% peat is that it can dry out and is really hard to rehydrate again

I use 75% peat, 25% potting soil and sometimes I put a little sand as well. Then it's about 110%...=D

This is a topic I never loose interest in because it is a constant concern of mine. I've used a few different 'recipes':

1) Peat moss - dries out too easily, as others have said
2) Peat moss/Vermiculite - this mix is pretty good
3) Peat moss/Potting soil - mold, fungus, or some weird type of plant started growing in it. The stuff was sprouting up all over the place. I was most likely keeping the substrate too damp, which would make this 'vegetation' growth my fault. But even so, it's turned me off to this particular 'mix'.
4) "Bed-a-Beast", which is what I'm using right now. It retains moisture well, and fungus/mold/'vegetation' does not seem to grow readily in it.

Bed-a-beast, Repti or jungle bark, and very little sand is what I am using right now. They both (my centipedes) seem to be all right with it. I just get a funky musty smell every so often so I think the peat will help discurage mold. Again, thank you.
