I was sound asleep after working graveyard, when the bf woke me up all excited. He drug me out into the living room to see our B. smithi (which was purchased less than 48 hours ago) moulting! This is the first time my bf has seen this, so it was extra special.

Enjoy some pics. I'll post some more once she's finished.

Faunya,

Graveyard huh? Do you work at a hotel? I do... I also work the graveyard shift. About 1 hour of work.... and about 7 hours of surfing the Arachnoboards and watching T.V.! :D

Yup, you guessed it! My boss is a slave-driver though...after the paperwork is done, I spend the rest of the night on my hands & knees scrubbing...but on the bright side, I just got a new job :)

The most interesting thing about this spider is that I got it on a whim, after just going to pick up crickets.

I had mentioned in another thread earlier that I had seen this particular T being kept in a tiny KK with over an inch of standing water in the bottom, and had to "inform" the store clerk that it wasn't a fish..*L*

At that time, it was nearly $100, so there was no way for me to rescue it. This time when I went back, it was STILL in an inch of standing water, but they had dropped the price to $35. Couldn't leave it there to die...

Just guessing, but if I hadn't gotten it when I did, it probably would have died...I see no way for it to moult in that much standing water!

Nice pics and beauty of a smithi. You did good in redeeming it from it's aquatic lifestyle. :p :D

Beautiful! I've never had the chance of seeing an actual molt yet, my Rosie is still getting acquainted with his new home, great shots!

Yep...his "tippytoes" pic was taken after this moult...this thread has been around awhile.
