Rolled over, cleaned some, then went straight for the molt! Look at those white fangs!

Ehh you might want to click on it twice then use full screen mode once on youtube. For some reason this new camera wants to give me some crap.

Why do you thinks she would do that? I mean, what's the advantage to her?

wow nice job catching that moment.:worship:
I love the moment about 20 sec in where she first spreads her fangs and just starts to tear into it.

There are a lot of fluids and nutrients left on the exuvium (sp?) after it's been shed. Before the exoskeleton is lost, there is a build up of salty liquid between the new skin, and the old one. They've been known to focus attention on the abdomen, where a lot of said fluid sometimes collects.

There may be merit to destroying your skin to ensure it doesn't look like a spider when it's pushed out of your home as well. That might bring birds etc coming to your house... for all we know, it's probably easier to get a ball of skin out of your burrow than a spidery mess of hard legs.

Ya you can see her moving the molt around to get to the wet part of the abdomen!

I'm not going to lie to you, Talken.

All I saw was a bunch of legs and a couple of fangs, and a bit of an exuvium, and movement thereof.

I'm amazed that you can see an abdomen in there! ;)

Very cool vid, by the way. I should have written than earlier. You know I'm a big fan of your videos/photos though.

Well I was watching it happen so maybe that is why I know what she went for. But if you double click on it and make if full screen once on youtube you can see things a bit better.
