I found this thing yesterday at the beach. I found about 100 tiny burrows and then came across this monster. A good Inch at least long, aggressive and very fast dispite the big booty. The burrow went a good 13 inches down, hope someone knows what this thing is, I speculate that it is from the genus Aptostichus.

I'd agree on Aptostichus based on the habitat, it seems some species from the genus do prefer to inhabit sandy riverbanks and the coastline (although Myrmekiaphila can also live in those spots as well). If you want to keep her, I'd thoroughly suggest taking a bunch of sand from her locality back home as she will settle into captivity in no time. Beautiful find, thank you for sharing.

Made it this enclosure, both sand and plant collected at the same spot as the spider.
Looks good mate. Just give her plenty to of depth to dig in and keep the sand at the bottom damp (can use a thin a plastic pipe or straw for this, and you should be good

If you caught it on a beach there is a good possibility that it is an endangered species. Let me PM you to figure out the ID.

Thanks,
