Caught a bug I've never seen before

When I first saw it I thought it was a giant Wasp. It flew up from an old board I was cutting and repeatedly tried to land on me . It has very loud wing beats and that oviposider thingy looked like a giant stinger. Scared the crap out of me until I caught and got a closer look and saw it was harmless

While we're at it, does anybody know what these beetles are? I found them inside a rotten knothole

The beetles are Xanthogaleruca luteola.

The wasp is a member of the Siricidae (Suborder Symphyta)
