Hey guys, not sure if you heard about this one, but my wife's rescue board picked up on it and though some of you may be interested:

This is a quote from her board: There are ALOT OF EXOTICS GOING IN THIS SALE:

Yeah, according to a couple reports I read, they had quite a few violations
in the past few years, according to the auction site they are selling the
property to be developed... and everything is being sold off at
auction...rides, storyland houses, equipment, animals. Federal and state
regulations are getting stricter on running such a place, and if I remember
correctly, they were listed as one of the ten worst zoos (along with Space
Park in NJ)

Best thing to do is read the brochure at www.nortonauctioneers.com(click on
upcoming auctions, and then on Full Color Brochure for Catskill Game Farm)
It's a 4 meg file, so if you're on dial up, it takes forever to load...

The animals all sell on the 2nd day. It does say that you have to get the
necessary state and federal permits for the animals you purchase, you have a
week to do so, then they charge board. animals will not be allowed to leave
without the permits.

Let's see, the list of animals includes (some are sold in groups, so you're
getting a whole GROUP of some of these..)
Capybaras (1 female)
European Wild Boar (1 male)
pair of Lemurs
1 Patagoninian cavie
Group of 11 Peccaries (no clue...)
Group of 3 Porcupines
10 Pot Bellied Pigs
Group of 16 Rabbits
3 F and 1 M Vervet Monkeys
1 Warthog
5 American Elk (those will probably go to a game hunting farm)
16 Auoudads (selling in small groups)
8 Axis Deer (selling large males, plus group)
72 Barbado Sheep selling in small groups
group of 6 Barasingha Deer (endangered)
4 Bison
13 Black buck (selling males plus group)
Group of 5 Boer/Fainting goat cross)
28 Dall Sheep (selling in small groups)
44 Fainting Goats (selling as a group!)
65 M and 48 F Fallow Deer (selling in groups with large males seperate
(these are tiny little deer)
Group of 5 Guanaco (???)
1 Hog Deer
1 Holstein F
1 Lechwe Waterbuck
59 Llamas (selling in small groups)
2 Maral (male only 50% pure)
5 Miniature Horses (3 F, 2M)
6 Muntjac as a group
5 Nilgai
25 Pygymy Donkeys (selling individually) 17 F, 8 m)
14 Red Deer
2 White Rhino (I think they are protected/endangere d?)
11 Sika Deer (group)
5 Tarpan (as group)
11 White Elk (sellin in two groups of 4...)
3 Wisent
3 Yaks
4 Dwarf Zebu (group)
Then there's all kinds of parrots, cockatiels (in large groups), a flamingo,
some emu, ducks, doves, geese, guinea fowl, ostrich, peafowl, pigeons, a
black swan, alligators, snakes, etc... A lot of those you do need permits
for (especially in NJ)

Anyhow...should be interesting. :)

I want a cotton candy machine *lol* Been trying for years to get one at
different auctions, always miss out, LOL. Don't ask... it's a long story :)

Anyhow, check out the brochure. Lots of info there, on when you can
pre-inspect items for sale, etc... Cashier's Checks or cash payments only,
unless you get a letter from your bank with pre-approval from them with a
line of credit up to a certain amount for any checks you write.

I'd love to have a bunch of fainting goats! I cant imagine that would ever stop being fun.

Bison would be a great animal to take for a stroll in the park.

Our neighbor breeds fainting goats, it actually takes quite alot to get them to faint.

I hope they sell the game to people who can house it properly. Game fences, feed, etc. Texas now has wild Axis deer because of this. (On the bright side though, there is now an open season on them. :D )
