-Hello, what you thing about the use of carton boxes like a cage for roaches & crickets? their use may be a risk or only is paranoia?

-I find this idea in this link...

http://www.chameleonnews.com/year2003/jan2003/crickets/crickets.html

...and actually I still test this type of cage from a few days ago with some of my hisser roaches, and none of my roaches (6 adults & 27 nimphs) even had tried climb the walls of the cage !! (maybe because the sense of security which this type of cage appear give it to the roaches).

-My cage have two paralell brown-tape ribbons along the upper border of the cage with a thin vaseline layer on it. All these for deterring the climbers. And all the gaps in the bottom also are cover with brown-tape.

-Sorry, actually I don´t have images of the cage, but what are your opinion of this type of cages, maybe is play with fire? or may be OK?

-Thank you, best regards.

roaches will live in anything you put them in, carton box whatever, i like to see my roaches so i put them in glass aquariums, its up to you, as long as you properly maintain them, put them in your computer case for all we care.

I think most roaches would chew right through a cardboard box.

I would like to add that I think it is odd that this guy is suggesting a cardboard box, but has pictures oonly of a wooden and plastic one. Am I reading the article right?

-Hello. Yes, appear be all possible what the roaches would chew right through the carton box. My roaches within my experiment still not interested both in chew or for climb the carton box, maybe because they have all they needed in this place, but the experiment still go on.
-Maybe I dont try this experiment with speedy species like B. lateralis or B. orientalis, P. americana or B. germanica, but yes with big-and-slow motion roaches species and crickets. Actually I still made preparatives for keeping these pest species of roaches but within solid & secure cages.
-In these article in the link, the comments about carton boxes like cages is right in the part named: "What do I put them in?", but the pictures not have any carton cage.
-Thank you, best regars.
