I have heard that carpet can be used a substrate for snakes. My corn snake loves burrowing in the aspen substrate I have her in now. But her feeding tank is now, err, occupied (home to a new snake{D ) and I dont have any other feeding tanks for her. I want to use carpet substrate so there is no risk of impaction when i start to feed her in her housing tank. My question is, will she get stressed out or even depressed if I take away her burrowing substrate?

substitute a hide box, indoor/outdoor is fine=easy wash for a poop machine like corns.

all mine have hides

Just use shoeboxes or plastic rubbermaid bins to feed in, and keep the aspen. :) I do that with my ball python, he LOVES to dig around.

I hated using carpet, back when I used it. It never seemed to get clean enough, and I had to take EVERYTHING out of the tank just to remove the carpet and clean up a little poop. Aspen you can spot clean with a kitty litter shovel.

My corn is about 3 1/2 feet so a shoe box wouldnt quite work as a feeding tank. Any other suggestions on feeding places Mushroom Spore?

I don't have any big tupperwares around so I just feed my corn in the bathtub. She's about 4 feet. I just make sure to plug the drain first {D

I dont use carpet, for my small rat snakes I use brown masking paper that you buy in a roll at homedepot= easy clean up. My large rat snakes I use coco husk and scoop the poop, I also have isopods in the enclosures. The large rat snakes are usually in the hide logs and I take the whole thing out to feed.

You can pick up sterilite containers for a few bucks in Wal-Mart that are plenty big enough to feed a Corn. I have dozens of them of various sizes around as quick temp housing for surprise rescues that turn up on occasion.
As for the carpet idea, yep, that would work if you add hides which you should have anyway. Where I use carpet I use Astroturf (indoor outdoor grass looking stuff) and have at least 3 pieces cut to size so I can change them out when soiled. With three or more I don’t have to do laundry as often. Be sure to melt the edges or cut it with a hot knife, I heat a butter knife red hot when making mine.

My ball python is 3-4 feet long and eats his meals in a shoebox just fine. He's also definitely much more heavy-bodied than a corn. The snake isn't going to be living in the box for hours - it's just a snug space to go into, curl around a dead rodent, eat it, and go back into their actual enclosure. It's the same as going into a rodent's burrow in the wild.

You can also put the snake into the shoebox with dinner, put the lid on the shoebox, and then put the whole thing back into the enclosure and lock it up if you're worried about the snake pushing off the shoebox lid while you're out of the room.

I'd be careful with this unless you seriously clean the tub after. Whole families have gotten salmonella from letting the family reptile soak or otherwise come into contact with sinks or bathtubs.
