Hey guys! I’m planning to get a Versicolor real soon as my first arboreal T. I’m relatively new to the hobby, just about a few months in, and I just really want to get all things right for this specific T as I’ve read that they are very delicate.

I’ve heard that newbies shouldn’t get a sling for Versicolors as they are unforgiving when it comes to newbie mistakes. But they can be really expensive here and all I’ll be able to get are 2cm/0.75in sizes.

How often should I put droplets on its webbing? And is it really that necessary to have a water dish that stage? I’m just worried that they might drown or something.

I also read that they really need good amounts of ventilation and keep the substrate dry to avoid moisture buildup.

Would be great to hear from you guys! I’ll get the T as soon as I’m all set with the husbandry research!

Thanks in advance!

versis are not “fragile” they just have specific husbandry needs.
Put a water dish in there, slings can’t drown, their bodies don’t break surface tension
Yes, plenty of ventilation! Making sure the holes are not large enough for an escape. If the sling can fit their carapace in the hole, they can get out. Dry substrate is best.
You can drip a little water on the web a couple times a week. They will drink from that more often than from the water dish ime, but they will use the water dish, so put one in.
I’ll link viper’s avic guide in a moment, it applies for all Aviculariinae

Tarantulas won’t drown, the best thing I’ve found for small slings is tattoo ink caps. In my experience, versicolor are good eaters and quick growers. Dry substrate, vertical cork bark and clutter with fake plants near the top, drip water on the web a few times a week. Vipers guide is really good. Thank you for posting before buying the animal

Vertical enclosure, something to climb (based on slings size) some substrate and a bottle cap for a water dish. Last: VENTILATION

They are the best Avic to raise, very good feeding response. See my link below, read up on the thousands posts already here just like yours.
