So what type of environment do they come from? Really humid or just a little bit? About 75-80 F, or are they a mountain species? They're supposed to be coming soon, get out your wallets.

It seems a joke that some peopel will pay that much for a spiderling. "More money than sense"

When spiders reach this price and hype, do you think that in a sense, they become fashion?

intersting thought. personnally, the most expensive spider I would buy would be a Goliath birdeater, but not $325(like, 450 candaian) for a 1/2 inch sling!!! not in my lifetime!

I find it funny that people get mad because a tarantula is going to cost $350. There are snakes that cost $10,000+, and while most hobbiest don't buy them, they don't bitch about it all the time either. No matter what "hobby" you are into there will be some on the low end of the price list some on the top end. I don't find the prices outrages at all, when you stop and look at you will be getting. Tarantulas are very long lived, and the Poecilotheria are very hardy captives. I plan to buy at least one, maybe even a couple Poecilotheria metallica when they are available.

The down side of paying this much for a spider, is that the chances of getting a male that is short lived is very common. I have raised male P. fasciata in about a year and a half, untill it matured and died. I want a metallica, but its not worth it, if its a male , for that price.
