Okay these pics come from the Cape Fear serpentarium in wilmington NC, i saw an advert for the place at the USS North Carolina and drug my family there last summer while on vacation :D I must say i was quite impressed with the snakes there, and the habitats they were in. Sadly though, the place was extremly dark, which made for horrible pictures. Some of these turned out rather well though.
Someting that is perhaps of note, the CFS apparently has one of the largest collections of bushmasters in the States from what I read there--probably several dozen specimens of differing localities.

Now, on to the show :D

The collection was primarily 'hot' snakes but there were a few pythons and boids in for good measure

In order top to bottom:
Bushmaster of some kind
nice sized king cobra (who put on a GREAT show for us...i just got lousy pics  )
pair of green mambas
two vipers i'm not sure of--i want to say wagner's but im not positive

And yet more!

huge nile monitor
equally huge albino burmese
2 pics of a sonoran (i think) rattler
and one more of the cobra showing his (her?) stuff, i'd estimate it at 8 or 10 feet long, perhaps as much as 12

Last batch, we have:
An emerald tree boa (correct me here someone please, i can never keep the tree boas and pythons separate, i thought the boas had the white..)
2 more bushmasters (boring snakes! they just laid there in piles)
a cobra of some type (I'm fairly sure--could that be a taipan?)
black headed python with its head in a cave
and...
BABY SPITTING COBRAS! They were sooooooo cute, had just hatched, eggs were still in the cage...wow, they were adorable. wanted to take one home with me :D

Anywho thts it for this year, ill have some more this summer most likely

Huh. Beautiful snakes. We have a place like that here, exept its actually a refuge for abandoned reptiles and amfibians...and a few tarantulas. Its called the Rainforest Reptile Refuge, and its home to over 400 animals including about 20 Kaimen, 18 iguana, 30 or more of those cute little snapper turtles, and some other more exotic kinds, many snake species including anaconda, reticulated python, milk snakes, boas, chameleons, bearded dragons, leopard geckos. Every animal used to be someones pet. Its an amazing place. Incredibly hot and humid when you go inside. All run by volunteers and donations. They are trying to ban the exotic pet trade, reptiles especially.

Rofl uhoh :p

perhaps i just caught them at the wrong time. They were pretty looking to be sure, and varied for being one species (are they one species? several sub species?) but each cage was the same, four or five blobs of bushmaster in a corner {D

Most large vipers arent very active.
There are 4 bushmaster species
L muta muta
L.m. rhombeata
L. stenophrys
L. melanocephala

I wouldnt mind those blobs in my cages ;-)

Edit: looks like the first bushmaster pix is L.m.muta and the second L.melanocephala

Wow! It looks like they have a nice collection. Thanks for posting those pictures. I'll make it a point to stop by that place if I'm in the area. Oh, and I'm with Crotalus on this one. I also take offense to the Bushmaster comment. :) LOL. They rock! They are one of my all time must see wild herps.

Arlight alright i take it back!
I still liked the king cobra better, he paced the front of the cage and hooded at me and another photographer for 20 minutes or so, quite the cool experience

More photos

I went to the Cape Fear Serpentatium this weekend. Excellent displays. I agree it was rather dark. I thought I would post my photos here since the thread had already been started. Sorry if some of the photos are repeats and out of focus. The lighting was difficult to deal with. Hope you enjoy these also.
