These seem very out of place when not in their webs. I found one walking on my pillow when backpacking a few years back. It was a dark barky grey color and it took me a moment to place it. Also recently at a local middle school one of the PE coaches had found one on the gym wall and thought he had never seen one. When I told him what it was, he suddenly recognized it. Cool spiders.
