Hey all, we have a bit of a problem, we had someone bit by this little creature and we would like to know it it is poisonous?
She is allergic to a lot of things and there is a red blotchy mark where she was bit. Anyone know the name of this guy, so we can research it? We are in Fort Vermilion Ontario Canada

That looks like an Araneus bicentenarius, "giant lichen orbweaver." Allergies aside, it is considered harmless.

Thanks for the quick response :worship:
I didn't think they came this far north, or west, from the reading I have been doing it seems like this spider is a south eastern dweller of North America.
and the more pics I look at the more I am convinced it is a giant lichen orbweaver. Too bad this little guy had to die, she just freaked out when she got bit. :-(

Notice that also Araneus saevus is called "giant lichen orbweaver". This is why the common names should be put where they belong, in the recycle bin...
