Can Rats....

Can rats strain their legs/ankles or hurt their self in anyway when trying to reach a water botttle above their heads or can they all reach water bottles by a certain height?

I seen my male getting water but having trouble balancing his self so i I just put in one of those log hids too add help so that should do it.

water should be fairly easy access for all animals... if they are straining to reach the water, its up too high. Lower the bottle if you can, but at least the log hide should work...

I'm going to see if i can find a longer skinny metal piece that hangs on the lid of the tank but the hide is working well.

i wrap a coat hanger or bailing wire around the top of the bottle and then make a hanger that fits over the tank and the lid even those blk lids with two removeable holes work with it as i melt the edge of the lid where the wire will fit and it works, i can show a pic if need be, it works for all types of cages and you can adjust the wire on the bottle or the hanger part for each different tank height. as they may end up moving the log on you
