So i've been battling phorids in my house lately. Even though i'm pretty meticulous about getting dead crickets out of the cricket tank, there are a lot of adult phorids in there lately. They're also popping up in my little dubia colony and i haven't seen any corpses in there.

So can they lay eggs in water gel or fruit/veggies or anything else that might be in there?

I suppose in afterthought they could be fruit flies but i haven't had any before now. Do phorids have red eyes?

Thanks folks.

By the sounds of it Phorids will lay their eggs in pretty much anything, though your red-eyed fleis may well be fruit flies.

Info on how to separate Phorids, Fruit flies and Sciarid flies in this thread
