Can escaped mice go feral in your house?

A neighbor has 4 cats but one of those houses that is really run down and has lots of hiding places, and a few domestic mice escaped in the house. Can they survive if the cats dont get to them? There is edible stuff all over the house they can get into.

When I was grwoing up I we caught a few white mice in traps.

Oh, I didn't think they were that agile. I guess she'll have to keep an eye out for any.

Caught a feral white mouse in the country 20 years ago and it was pet tame.
NO Kidding!I just picked up!Was not sick which my Dad thought it might be..and we just turned it back loose...
