I just got a purseweb spider the other day, Calommata signata, but as soon as i got it it buried itself underground, without making a clear burrow opening at the surface. Is this normal behavior for the spider? I know it makes a little opening at the surface typically. I want to make sure it's able to eat.

Pursewebs typically stay in the tube of webbing and bite prey through it once the prey wanders over the web's outside.

If its completely buried, it might be in premolt?

I think premolt is probably right. It was very plump when I got it and completely buried under the soil it was shipped with. I don't want to disturb it if this is the case, so I'll leave it be in the soil.
