Hello,

I have a male ball python that is 5 or 6 inches bigger for the 10 gallon cage he is in. I was told from a breeder and seller that he wont need a bigger cage yet. I am unsure and would like more opinions. So should I get a 20 gallon long for him or is it too soon? I have books on this but I dont have a certain scale to weigh him.

I've always gone by this rule, The snakes total length should not be greater than the length plus width of the cage. He'd be fine in a ten gallon until hes approx. 30" or so, a 20gallon tank will house him for the rest of his life probably.

I've always gone by the rule that as long as they can fully stretch out their bodies, they can still live comfortably in the tank. If your snake is longer than the tank is, it's probably time to move him. :)
