Hi guys. My Caribena versicolour male just had his ultimate molt and I was wondering how much time I still have left with him? How long has your male survived after his ultimate molt? Thanks in advance

Depends in each specimen. Some will only last days or weeks and some months or years.

I have only kept one until the bitter end (I send them off so I don't have to see it).

He matured in September and passed the following July, but didn't emerge from his molt hammock for over 4 months. Not sure if being stationary for so long helped but I did feed and water him in there.

Hydration is super important now, add another water dish if you can fit it.

I got one from @fcat at the end of January and he just passed this last week. Not sure how long he was mature before he came to me, though. He did his duty as a male well, though, and I'm expecting to see a sac from my female any time now - so his legacy will endure (🤞).

Depends on the individual.

Enjoy the time you have remaining.

That male matured 12/26/23. WHAT A RUN!

Thank you for giving him a full life ❤

This is what makes me hurt inside with males. Sometimes i wonder if its worth paying the extra 200$+ for a guaranteed female.

i will love all males i get, the Gods know all my unsexed will end up being male. But once they turn, i will have no one to send them too.

no matter my efforts to join the local community, all my tarantulas will not get to fulfill their duty. I am on a mission to get mates that arent sac mates for all my tarantulas.

i hope your male lives a long life.

if he hasnt made a sperm web yet, move him to a smaller enclosure. The less he exercises, the better the chances of a longer life.

as soon as i can sex my spiders: if i know it will be male, i will keep him in a small enclosure.
